Park Safety
Our Commitment to Safety and Wellbeing The safety and wellbeing of guests is our top priority at Village Roadshow Theme Parks, and we are committed to providing a fun and safe environment for everyone.
Excellence Through Training and Care
Government and Industry Regulations
Licenced Attractions
Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild are Major Amusement Parks as licenced by the Queensland Government’s Office of Industrial Relations. The safety case and licence regime for these major amusement parks requires a comprehensive and integrated approach for managing amusement device safety, which we proudly meet and exceed.
World-Class Safety Standards
Village Roadshow Theme Parks has a strong history of working with world-class and industry-best ride manufacturers and all rides, slides and attractions across the properties are built, maintained, and operated in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, Australian Standard AS 3533-Amusement rides and devices, and the Queensland Work Health and Safety Regulation.
Accredited Wildlife Care
Sea World and Paradise Country are also accredited zoological institutions under the Zoo and Aquarium Association with both regulated by multiple State and Federal Government agencies. The welfare of the animals in our care is the highest priority. To learn more about our welfare initiatives, visit https://seaworld.com.au/animals/animal-welfare
Attraction Safety & Operations

Daily Pre-Opening Inspections
Each day, qualified engineers inspect and test every attraction, followed by secondary checks from the operations team. Rides only open once all inspections are complete.

Compliance with Safety Regulations
Australian theme parks follow strict safety requirements set by manufacturers and regulators. Our operators carefully follow these rules, ensuring rides are loaded, unloaded, and run safely and efficiently.

Multiple Layers of Guest Protection
Every attraction has its own unique operational system, with ride restraints and harnesses designed with multiple layers of redundancy. These systems provide both safety and comfort for all guests.

Attraction Maintenance
We are proud of our stringent maintenance program which is an essential part of ensuring the continued safety of our attractions. Like other year-round theme parks throughout the world, our parks conduct scheduled annual maintenance for each attraction that, when possible, is undertaken outside of peak operating periods. In addition to scheduled maintenance, on some occasions unforeseen attraction closures may occur intermittently and our team work diligently to re-open these attractions as quickly as possible. Guests can keep up to date with current maintenance schedules via Parks Opening Hours & Maintenance

Ride Stoppages
Ride stoppages are part of every attraction's operational systems and are proof these systems and operators are doing as they are designed and trained to do. These stoppages can occur due to a range of factors including sensor or computer discrepancies, guest behaviour or weather and power interruptions. As part of each individual attraction’s operating system there are multiple processes to follow when these stoppages occur and most commonly, our team can safely reset the fault which has caused the stoppage and return the ride to the home position using the ride control system, however in cases where that doesn’t occur, we move to manual processes, including unloading guests from the safe stop zones.

How We Manage Ride Stoppages Safely
Our team regularly trains for these scenarios. We understand that these ride stoppages can result in guests being on the ride for a longer duration than anticipated, however our operations and engineering teams work to ensure we exit guests in the safest possible manner – you will notice our rides are designed so there is a stairway/alternate exit path for guests to disembark the ride in the case of these stoppages. We work with guests involved in these stoppages to ensure we best assist them for the inconvenience.
