SharkSmart - Self-guided Activity

Our SharkSmart education boards are proudly supported by the Queensland Government and are located in top viewing area at Shark Bay. We invite guests to Shark Bay to learn about shark species and biology, fascinating facts about sharks, how to be SharkSmart in the water and new technology being used in Queensland to monitor sharks and keep people safe.

Marine Wildlife First Aid

During this interactive program students are introduced to the marine wildlife species commonly found in Australia the threats they face that can result in marine wildlife incidents. Students will be equipped with tools and information to contact the relevant rescue organisations and provide first aid for a marine animal in distress. Students will gain an understanding of what action can be taken personally and collectively to reduce human impact on marine animals to prevent these cases.

Set in the underwater viewing gallery of Shark Bay, this program introduces students to the numerous ways humans are interconnected to the oceans and their inhabitants. Students of all year levels will engage in inquiry-based learning activated to discover how fishing activities, spark nets, marine debris and pollution are collectively contributing to loss of biodiversity.
